Smart Network Devices was founded in 1999 and is managed by the founder Peter Duchemin and co-founder Walter Puhl. Mid of 2000 the company moved to Jülich, which is in the middle of the technology area between Cologne, Düsseldorf and Aachen, close to the Dutch and Belgium Border (Euregio). In the first years Smart Network Devices was financed by venture capital.
The company was established by a team of engineers and business managers from the technology industry sector with the right spirit to develop innovative products for embedded devices. The task of delivering the same capabilities as PC based technologies but greatly reducing the physical size of the devices with particular emphasis on the total cost of ownership of the final application by developing System-on-Chip-Solutions was successfully embarked on. The team have an excellent background in communication technologies due to their former experience. More than 100 manyears of embedded design experience is the basis of the intellectual property developed by Smart Network Devices.
On 1st of July 2007 Smart Network Devices was aquired by MSC Vertriebs GmbH, one of the leading high-tech distributors of electronic components in Europe. Smart Network Devices is now a business unit inside MSC Vertriebs GmbH while keeping all its products and services alive, even planned to be expanded on various levels.
Smart Network Devices is continuing its ongoing software developments and strategic operations with a clear focus on software and devices with a small memory footprint in order to realize complete System-on-Chip solutions and a good price/performance ratio. Our customer's benefit is a Short Time-To-Market by adaptation of their existing products, or the design of new products, as we can offer turnkey solutions to be integrated in all kinds of devices.
