Products - 4NetOS®

Due to the HyNetOS platforms success in the market with its wide range of features and software extensions (middleware), we decided to build a successor for other processor platforms in addition to the current Hyperstone processors.

4NetOS^® is a Realtime multitasking network Operating System, with a focus on memory footprint and communications in line with our mission statement, and with a look and feel similar to HyNetOS. Over time it will acquire all of the same software extensions as HyNetOS, plus more. In the first instance the Operating System has been written for ARM™ processors, initially the ARM720T platform. Working with STMicroelectronics, the ST SPEAr™ Net (part of the SPEAr™ family) will be the first processor that Smart Network Devices operates on with most of the processor peripherals supported with drivers. Further STMicroelectronics ARM&trade processors with MAC's (ARM9's) will be supported in time (again with most peripheral drivers), as will other manufacturers.

The system was shown in its Alpha state at the SPS/IPC Exhibition in November 2005 in Nuremberg, and the Beta version shown at the Embedded World exhibition in February 2006. 4NetOS^® was officially launched on 1 June 2006 with all the functionality, features and development tools a software engineer needs included in one CD. Hardware development/starter kits are available from ourselves as well as the processor manufacturer.

The network Operating System 4NetOS^® has been structured into several elements, which are then easily linked by the customer dependent on the functionality required :

• Base Version (the network Operating System with basic functionality including TCP/IP)
• Software Extensions (function blocks to be added for separate extended usage and applications) like
• I*Target COM (additional Internet functionality, e.g. HTTP, FTP)

Further extensions will be offered as developed

• J*Target CLDC (adds approved Java KVM/CLDC for Mobile Clients)
• W*Target Blue (adds qualified BluetoothTM V1.2 protocol stack)
• A*Target (adds Realtime Ethernet Stacks for Industrial automation)

Potential customers may come across an "Introductory Edition" CD. This CD has been deliberately limited in its functionality (a wait to start, and limited operational time) and is designed for customers to obtain a look and feel of 4NetOS^® and the tools before purchasing the "Professional Edition"
with device driver source code, and schematics to the SND Starter Kit to aid customers undertaking their own design.
