Like you can see under Goals we also want to build an ideal System-on-Single-Chip. This means in our understanding to supply a processor core, all necessary interfaces and system memory. On this chip should run a compact, powerful and modular embedded OS and ideally the complete application software as well.
Of course, parts of the application may be loaded from a network interface and if internal memory is non-volatile the OS can be loaded from a network server by using the internal network bootloader. However, all required drivers, protocols and basic services should be included as a complete system on this SoSC-solution.
SND is continually developing its software in the direction of this goal and the current development roadmap is showing the introduction of such a kind of system very close to the ideal solution in the near future.
You can expect a first SoSC solution from SND and the processor partner hyperstone in Q1/2006 available for mass market application.
